Reportedly, this decision was taken to address the issue of piracy in the region. The movie has so far raked in $90 million in sales, that’s an impressive start for sure but the inevitable has happened as someone was able to record the movie in the cinema and upload it online.<br />

The company said it “has not found any evidence” that other customer information was affected, like travel itineraries or passports.<br />

Orbitz advised customers who used its services during the prescribed time period to check their credit and debit card billings statements and to contact their banks if they see any fraudulent charges.<br />

Orbitz said it was in the process of notifying potential victims and that it would offer them a year of free credit monitoring services. Customers with questions can visit <a href="http://orbitz.allclearid.com/">orbitz.allclearid.com</a> for more information, the company said.<br />

The data from 50 million Facebook profiles were looked at against the electoral register, and then used to build an algorithm which analyses people’s personality traits in relation to their voting behaviour. This could then be used to find potential swing voters and create messages tailored to influence them politically. <br />

Cambridge Analytica is being investigated by the Electoral Commission for its possible role in the EU referendum and by the Information Comissioner’s Office over using data analytics for political purposes. The firm is also being investigated in the United States by special counsel Robert Mueller, a former FBI director who is investigating possible collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump’s election campaign. Wylie has also passed on his dossier of evidence to the National Crime Agency’s <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Cyber%20Crime">cybercrime </a>unit and the Information Commissioner’s Office. <br />

On Friday, just before the story broke, Facebook announced it was suspending Cambridge Analytica and GSR’s Aleksandr Kogan from Facebook while it carries out an investigation into “misuse of data”. It has also suspended whistleblower Christopher Wylie from using Facebook. Facebook denies this was a data breach, as GSR got the data “in a legitimate way” but it broke Facebook rules by passing the data on to third parties. Facebook also claims it removed the app in 2015 and written proof that all data had been destroyed. <br />

Cambridge Analytica’s vice president at the time was Steve Bannon, who was also head of the right-wing website Breitbart and was running Donald Trump’s campaign to become US President. Bannon later became President Trump’s chief of staff, but was fired last year. Cambridge Analytica was funded by Robert Mercer, a hedge fund billionaire and Trump’s biggest campaign donor. GSR’s Aleksandr Kogan is also an associate professor at St Petersburg State University in Russia and has received grants from the Russian government to research Facebook users’ emotional states. <br />

Cambridge Analytica told the Observer its contract with GSR said Kogan must seek “informed consent” for data collection. It’s affiliate SCL Elections worked with Facebook to make sure no terms had been “knowingly breached” and was given a signed statement that all data had been deleted. Cambridge Analytica also claims none of the data was used in the 2016 US presidential election.<br />

Dark web criminals are taking advantage of this anonymity by trading illegal commodities, substances and services using virtual currencies.<br />

<b>4,275 websites including those in the U.K., the U.S., Ireland, Australian and Canada with government websites with hundreds of thousands of visitors were hacked in less than a period of four hours</b> and unwittingly mined for <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Cryptocurrency" target="_blank">cryptocurrency </a>exploiting a security breach. Some of the compromised websites include the <b>United States courts online portal</b>, the <b>United States Information Commissioner Office</b>; the <b>National Health Service</b> in the <b>United Kingdom</b> and the <b>Victorian Parliament </b>website in <b>Australia</b>. The attack by a cryptojacking code hit common websites which had the text-to-speech accessibility script Browsealoud for the visually impaired from Texthelp company.<br />

Recently, Monero has grown in popularity with a market capitalization of $4 billion. Its privacy feature has contributed to its momentum on the dark web making it harder to track compared to bitcoin.<br />

The prices of virtual currency in the market skyrocketed recently and as a scheme that has drawn the attention of criminals. <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Cyber%20Crime" target="_blank">Cybercrimes </a>increased especially on cryptocurrency as criminals tried to cash in on the skyrocketing crypto prices. The cybercrime industry is recently believed to be overtaking the illegal drug trafficking industry in terms of revenue and hence attracting criminals.<br />

The hacking process involved insertion of a <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Malwares" target="_blank">malicious </a>code that takes over a portion of a victim’s computer and central processing. Therefore the hacker has the ability of opening a website using a browser in order to mine virtual currency.<br />

The process of mining digital coins requiring less processing power such as Monero is much easier compared to mining bitcoin from websites as it requires powerful specialized computers and software, making Monero mining a better fit for saving on time and energy, making it a very attractive option to criminals.<br />

The dark web hackers had an easier time as they did not compromise each of the 4,275 websites at once, but rather hacked a globally-used plugin named ‘<b>Browsealoud</b>’ which is capable of reading out text from websites for the blind.<br />

After the Browsealoud code was hacked, <b>CoinHive’s Monero miner</b> was silently and secretly injected. Thereafter, any website using the Browsealoud plugin was automatically compromised.<br />
<br />
However the cyber-attack was deemed successful as there were basic regulatory measures and requirements over accessibility of some of these government websites that have not been met.</div>

It’s pretty clear that <a href="https://github.com/" target="_blank">GitHub</a> is one of the favorite targets for <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/DDoS">distributed denial-of-service</a> (DDOS) attacks. The service is currently facing another attack wave. <br />

“We are currently working to mitigate an incoming DDoS attack. We’ll provide additional information as it becomes available,” GitHub <a href="https://status.github.com/messages" target="_blank">wrote</a> just a few minutes ago.<br />
<br />
The code repository hasn’t shared any additional details in the meantime and may not even do so if the attack isn’t much more serious than the regular DDOS attacks targeting it.<br />
<br />
GitHub handles such situations so often that it has gotten so accustomed to mitigating them that access to the service is usually restored within about 20 minutes.<br />
<br />
The service is armed with enough weapons to handle volumetric and complex attacks, so everything should be back to normal in no time.<br />
<br />
Last week, they faced one of the biggest attacks in recent months and, as a result, GitHub started working on ways to improve its DDOS mitigating capabilities to make sure that even uncommon operations could be blocked quickly, so that users could get their service back.<br />
<br />
On March 11, the attack was so wide that GitHub went down for 2 hours, a lot more than the regular 20 minutes that people are used to.<br />
<br />

Two men have been arrested in connection with the massive KT Corp. data breach that resulted in the theft of personal and financial information of some 12 million customers of the South Korean telecom giant.<br />
According to the <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/2014/03/06/business/south-korea-telecoms-hackers" target="_blank">CNN</a>, one of the arrested men, a 29-year-old surnamed Kim, was a hacker who broke into the company's computer system with customized hacking software and extracted customer information such as names, resident registration numbers and bank account information.<br />
The initial breach apparently happened in February 2013, and he has been extracting the data ever since. He allegedly sold it to a 37-year-old man surnamed Park, a telemarketing business owner that used the information to credibly impersonate a KT Corp. employee in order to sell cell phones.<br />
Another man has been arrested but almost immediately released.<br />
Apparently, in the last year, they managed to earn themselves nearly $11 million through this scheme.<br />
KT is cooperating with the police as the investigation continues, and will be forced to set up a website its users can visit to check whether their information has been compromised, the Yonhap News Agency <a href="http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/business/2014/03/07/17/0501000000AEN20140307000900320F.html" target="_blank">reported</a>.<br />
The South Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning is warning potentially affected users to be on the lookout for phishing emails impersonating the company and taking advantage of the situation to make them share more personal details.

Flexcoin, famous for making <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Bitcoin" target="_blank">bitcoin</a> banking as easy as regular banking, is no more. The company shut its doors on Tuesday morning after hackers stole 896 bitcoins (nearly $620,000) from its vault on Sunday. And the most unsettling thing? That wasn't even the only bitcoin heist last weekend.<br />
To <a href="https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Flexcoin" target="_blank">Flexcoin's</a> credit, it wasn't completely cleaned out by hackers. Hackers did clean out Flexcoin's hot wallet, but an undisclosed number of bitcoins in cold storage were untouched. "Cold storage" simply means that the bitcoins were kept in computers <a href="https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Cold_storage" target="_blank">not connected to the internet</a>, an extra level of security for which customers pay an extra 0.5 percent. Flexcoin will give those bitcoins back to customers. Those whose bitcoins were stolen are, well, they're shit out of luck because bitcoins aren't insured like good ol' greenbacks are in most banks.<br />
If this sounds like a familiar story, that's because it is. On Tuesday, another bitcoin firm called <a href="https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499580" target="_blank">Polonix</a> also admitted that hackers broke in and stole 12.5 percent of its reserves, though it plans on replenishing the lost 'coin itself. And who could forget the infamous implosion of Mt.Gox, the Japan-based bitcoin exchange that filed for bankruptcy last week and announced that $424 million worth of cryptocurrency was lost and gone forever. Those just a couple of the major heists and boondoggles on a growing list of heists and boondoggles.<br />
But what do you expect. The burgeoning bitcoin industry is famously unstable and <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Vulnerability" target="_blank">vulnerable</a>. Sure, it's an exciting idea for the sake of liberty and anarchy and whatever! It's just not the safest way to store your money right now, is all.</div>
