We are the kind of people who believes in first day first say but sadly we don not get any ticket as early as Sunday night. Needless to say, we’re a bit wary of spoilers. This led us to pass up a pretty cool Easter egg by the folks at Google.<br /> <br /> Okay, here goes. At the end of Infinity War, Thanos — snaps his fingers and wipes out something like half of the world’s population. It’s the ultimate cliffhanger moment, and one that led us to a year of waiting for some sense of closure.<br /> <br /> Google, in all its nerd glory, replicated this with Thanos-related search results. Some are reporting it as a means to block spoilers, but it seems more random than that, mostly blocking out the articles explaining the Easter egg, and a few of the cards included in most searches. But it’s still cool, and should lead to a spoiler-free experience if you want to check it out.<br /> <br /> Google Search is home to a new Easter egg celebrating yesterday's theatrical release of Avengers: Endgame. Just Google “Thanos” on desktop or mobile, and then nn the right, you’ll see a jewel-adorned glove, called the Infinity Gauntlet. Worse, Margosis wrote, when people are forced to change their passwords, too often they make a "small and predictable alteration to their existing password," or they'll just forget it.<br /> <br /> The blog post introduces a broader set of "<a href="https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/windows-security-baselines">baseline</a>" security settings Microsoft is considering recommending to companies that use its computer management software. Think of them as defaults of a sort.<br /> <br /> Unfortunately, Microsoft isn't simply yanking the password reset feature, which would be the humane thing to do. In the end, it'll still be up to your company's tech team whether to listen to reason or continue living in the security Stone Age.<br /> <br /> It's worth noting that Microsoft isn't changing recommendations around the way we create passwords. Now, they have just gained a huge new asset.<br /> <br /> We have all seen science fiction films about enhancements to our physiology, and fantasy ones where characters could see in the far distance.<br /> <br /> Now we can finally claim that we have the means to give everyone and their grandmother telescopic vision. Researchers at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology have introduced contact lenses with zoom support.<br /> The zooming contact lenses<br /> <br /> The brainchild of researcher <span class="highlight pop">Eric Tremblay</span>, the contacts were revealed at the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting in California.<br /> <br /> They are still a prototype, but they can be very useful to counteract age-related mascular degeneration (AMD for short). Age-related muscular degeneration being the main cause behind loss of sight in adults over the age of fifty.<br /> <br /> The lenses have built-in telescopes that can zoom in at 3X. The lenses themselves are rigid, but they are also larger than the normal ones, covering not just the cornea but the sclera as well (the white of the eyes).<br /> <br /> 1.5 mm thick, the lenses have a ring of tiny aluminum mirrors inside, to bounce light around and magnify the view 2.8 times, increasing the perceived size of objects.<br /> <br /> You can switch between normal and zoomed view by winking the right eye, thus interrupting the light being reflexed from the contact to the glasses.<br /> <br /> And thus we reach the main drawback: the contacts don't work alone, but in tandem with <a href="http://www.hackerschronicle.com/search/label/Gadgets">smart glasses</a> which can distinguish between blinks and winks.<br /> <br /> When winking, the light being reflected from the contacts to the glasses is interrupted, activating a polarized filter in the glasses which guides light towards the telescopic part. Winking the left eye resets things to normal view.<br /> Practical applications<br /> <br /> The zooming contact lenses might not be superman-level telescopic vision, especially since they'd work while the Clark Kent persona is active, but they are still a significant achievement. Converting the smartphone to an ophthalmoscope is quick and easy: fix an LED bulb near the camera of the mobile, a connecting wire and battery. It costs not more than Rs 35-50. The device was invented by ophthalmologists of <a href="http://www.sankaraeye.com/">Sankara Eye Hospital</a>. These pictures can then be sent to doctors for diagnosis.<br /> <br /> "We aren't sure if patients can use it themselves. But it helps eye specialists in rural areas who probably don't have high-end ophthalmoscopes. We are networking with doctors in rural areas who can send us photographs of patients' eyes taken through a mobile phone, that can help evaluate the disorder. We've had cases of eye tumours, glaucoma and other disorders related to the optic nerve, detected through photos taken from mobile phones with a minimum 5-mega pixel camera," said <span class="highlight pop">Dr Divyansh K Mishra</span>, retina fellow, Sankara Eye Hospital, who was one among the doctors who invented the new technique.<br /> <br /> A team of ophthalmologists consisting of <span class="highlight pop">Dr Mishra</span>, <span class="highlight pop">Dr Madhu Kumar</span>, <span class="highlight pop">Dr Rajesh R</span> , <span class="highlight pop">Dr Srinivasulu Reddy</span> and <span class="highlight pop">Dr Gladys Rodregues</span>, led by <span class="highlight pop">Dr Mahesh P Shanmugam</span>, is the think-tank behind this innovation.<br /> <br /> Back in 2002, <span class="highlight pop">Dr Shanmugam</span> had tried taking pictures of eyes through a handycam. "Technology is now advanced and some cell phones have 21 pixels. We won't stop using ophthalmoscopes but this is an added advantage. Eye care field technicians can now immediately diagnose a serious eye condition as they're able to instantly send images of the patient's retina to doctors in the city, via social networking sites," said Dr Mishra.<br /> <h3> MIT's mobile gadget</h3> In 2010, a team of students from <a href="http://web.mit.edu/" target="_blank">Massachusetts Institute of Technology</a> came up with a device to be attached to a mobile phone that can test the visibility of eyes and find out the refractive errors. It was called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRDO_Netra" target="_blank">NETRA</a> (Near-Eye Tool for Refractive Assessment). The user has to place the device in front of the eye and look into the lens attached to the phone. While pressing the arrow keys, the user can see green and red lines which overlap. The same process is repeated eight times, with the formation of green and red lines on the screen at different angles.
